| bpi.films, Europe’s leading provider of polythene films for both primary and secondary applications, has announced its plans for this year’s TAROPAK International Packaging Technology and Logistics Exhibition.
The company will use the event - which runs from the 15th to 18th September 2008 at the Poznan International Fair Ltd, Poland - to develop closer partnerships with Polish and other East European film converters, printers, laminators and end-users by demonstrating some of the different products it can provide to meet their needs.
In particular, visitors to the bpi.films’ stand (Stand 3, Pavilion 12) will be able to discover more about the company’s range of advanced co-extruded lamination films. These films are manufactured using state-of-the-art production techniques and stringent quality controls, enabling them to offer high running speeds with minimal waste. They are also suitable for lamination onto a large number of substrates (including polyester, polypropylene, nylon and foil) and can even incorporate additional value-adding features such as easy peel, high-performance sealing, anti-fog or anti-static characteristics.
bpi.films also intends to focus on a number of its other films such as its security films for courier and mailing applications and a new product called Wrapsmartultra. A next generation pallet stretch film, Wrapsmartultra draws on advanced manufacturing technology to offer all the performance of a 14-micron (mµ) film whilst actually being only 7 mµ thick.
As a result, half the film by volume is required to wrap a given load and in turn, less packaging waste, by weight, is created (this waste can even be reprocessed as Wrapsmartultra is 100% recyclable). The film’s thinner gauge also means customers get more film per reel. As well as providing increased value for money as users can wrap more pallets with every reel, this helps to cut down on the number of deliveries required and associated vehicle emissions.
On top of this, the company will promote its extensive range of produce films. These films can cater for an enormous variety of goods and can be used to create everything from bags to FFS packaging produced on lines with constantly heated jaws. Actual film grades can be tailored to meet the needs of individual customers, however in all cases, users can expect a high level of consistency, strong optical properties and a good profile for fast and trouble free conversion.
In addition, bpi.films will showcase its bread bag films, which allow bakery goods to benefit from a longer shelf life and increased aesthetic appeal. Not only do these films have good optical properties allowing the product inside to be seen without any distortion, but they also offer a high level of strength from a thinner profile – letting users increase the yield from each reel of film.
Finally, as TAROPAK represents the ideal platform to tell packaging professionals about new innovations, bpi.films will also use the exhibition to highlight its Integr8 range of biopolymer films. This range includes films which are degradable, biodegradable and compostable. As they are purposely designed to have a controlled life, they are meant to complement, rather than replace, conventional polymer based films and are currently being used for applications such as bubblewrap and compostable bin bags.
Commenting on the planned appearance, Mark Vernon, bpi.films’ Commercial Director said: “As a European market leader, TAROPAK is an important event for bpi.films. We already supply companies in Western Europe with films that can reduce their packaging costs, improve their product presentation or enhance their environmental credentials. Now, we’re keen for customers in Eastern Europe to enjoy the same advantages and we intend using this exhibition to show them how.”
