| Attracting thousands of visitors from over 142 different countries, the Emballage World Packaging Exhibition is arguably one of the biggest dates in the global packaging calendar. Recognising this, Europe’s leading provider of polythene films for both primary and secondary applications, bpi.films plans to use the 2008 event - which runs from the 17th – 21st November at the Paris-Nord Villepinte - to showcase a broad portfolio of products to a truly international audience.
In particular, visitors to the company’s stand (Stand 165), which can be found in Sector F (Food) of Hall 6, will be able to discover more about the manufacturer’s range of advanced co-extruded lamination films, which, thanks to the use of state-of-the-art production techniques and stringent quality controls, enable high running speeds with minimal waste.
In addition, these films are suitable for either solvent or solventless lamination onto all manner of substrates (including polyester, polypropylene, nylon and foil) and can even incorporate additional value-adding features such as easy peel, high-performance sealing, anti-fog or anti-static characteristics.
On top of this, the company also intends to use the event to showcase a number of films for non-food use. This will include its security films for courier and mailing applications as well as SP1 – an innovative surface protection film widely used in the glazing industry due to its easy on/easy off capabilities and impressive ability to protect fragile goods like glass from scratches and other damage.
Another range bpi.films will place under the spotlight is Gradis and its higher performance variant, Gradis+. These brand new films have been created specifically for medical packaging and employ carefully selected ‘pharmacopoeia’ approved polymers as well as masterbatch additives, chosen for their low gel count and tight tolerances. Plus, to ensure optimum product consistency, no batch or granule changes are permitted during the production process, whilst Gradis+ enjoys the added benefit of wet-cut cores and anti-static sleeving.
Finally, as Emballage represents the ideal platform to tell the global packaging industry about new innovations, bpi.films will also use the exhibition to promote its Integr8 range of biopolymer films. This range includes films which are degradable (breakdown under the influence of light and heat), biodegradable (breakdown under microbial activity) and compostable (breakdown under microbial activity within a specific time frame).
As they are purposely designed to have a controlled life, these biopolymer products are meant to complement, rather than replace, conventional polymer based films and are currently being used for a number of applications such as bubblewrap and compostable bin bags.
Commenting on the planned appearance, Mark Vernon, Commercial Director at bpi.films said: “We’re genuinely excited to be exhibiting at this year’s Emballage World Packaging Exhibition and not least because so much has happened within our business recently.
“Over the last 12 months, we’ve developed new ranges, improved existing products and pioneered new initiatives and ways of working. This event is the ideal backdrop to inform people of some of these things and there’s no question that a visit to our stand will be worthwhile.”
